One of the most instrumental aspects of Glanville House Photography is to provide an exceptional client experience before, during and after the session. This is done through careful planning and preparation. Everything from location to outfit recommendations will be gone over in detail.

The Booking Process

The Booking Process

After you select your session type, we will set a date, time and location for the shoot that works for you. Shortly after, an online booking link will be sent your way, and from this link you will view and sign the contract. Payment in full is required up front to secure your date and time.

As your session date approaches you will be sent more information via email on how to prepare for your session, along with other tips and tricks.

In the case of inclement weather, we will reschedule. Weather calls will be made 48 hours before the session (let me know if you require more advanced notice).

Your Session

Your Session

Prior to your session, you will receive a questionnaire that details items of importance to you and your family for me to concentrate on. Examples of this would be “we want the main focus to be on the children but we will pop in for a few”.

Choosing a location can be difficult, and I am more than happy to provide some suggestions. However, if you have somewhere in mind, that is awesome too! A few things to keep in mind when deciding on a location are: how easy is it to access (eg, particularly if you have a new baby, elderly grandparent etc), what time of year it is (a beach is obviously beautiful in summer but that strong sea breeze might be a bit much in winter), and what does you family love to do.

Unless it is actually raining, the session will go ahead. a cloudy, overcast day is actually better than a bright sunny day! I will be in touch 48 hours before your session to confirm all the details, and make a call as to whether we need to reschedule because of weather.

Expect your session to be reflective to what you see on my website and social media. My sessions are interactive and full of movement (appropriate footwear is a must)! I absolutely love those candid, in between moments, those moments that capture the essence of your family.

Although my sessions revolve around emotion and play, I always make time for that traditional posed portrait.

The best time of day to shoot a lifestyle session is either early/mid-morning, or later in the afternoon/early evening. The reason for this is that the sun is actually further from Earth, which makes for a more even light. This means it makes us all look fabulous when captured by a camera!

Session Tips

Session Tips

I. BE YOURSELF

The main goal is to capture you and your family authentically. Kick back, relax and have FUN! Interaction is the core of a successful session. Don't stress if the kids are shy or having a bad day. The most important thing is to just 'do you'.

II. POSING VS CANDIDS

While the majority of the session will be focused on interaction, we always strive to get a great set of core posed images with everyone looking at the camera!

III. WARDROBE SELECTION

Wear something you can move in. The best shooting locations rarely have level ground, so plan accordingly. It always looks best to keep colours neutral without any patterns or logos to distract. Check out more styling tips here.

IV. FINER DETAILS

No need to worry about finding the perfect location; leave that up to me! The best spots change week to week depending on the season. But if you have a special spot in mind, please let me know.

V. NO BRIBES

Don’t bride the littles with candy or ice cream (we can pull that out as a last resort). It’s a great idea to give them plenty of notice that we are taking some photos though! Tell them we are going on a fun adventure and show them some photos of my website or social media. It's always a good idea to make sure everyone is fed and napped to avoid meltdowns. There are a few more considerations to keep in mind for newborns which can be found here.

VI. ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE

Rest assured that it’s all part of the experience. My style thrives on being authentic and real. Leave your stress at the door and concentrate on having fun!
