You will have noticed that all my pictures are of a similar style, and this isn't by accident. My style is moody, rustic and ethereal all rolled into one. I absolutely love to make the most of the environment and this often means wearing clothes that complement the surroundings.

What to wear
First and foremost - be yourself! If your daughter hates wearing a dress, then don't put her in a dress. If Dad isn't into wearing a collared shirt, then don't! These photos are capturing your family authentically, and you need to feel comfortable. So dress in clothing that matches your style and is nice, clean and comfortable. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't dress your best, but it does mean that you can dress your best in your own style.
The key is to coordinate, not match. Neutral tones work beautifully, particularly if they complement the environment and location. Think about patterns, colours and textures that complement each other, rather than everyone wearing white polos and blue jeans.
Stay away from bright or fluorescent colours, or bold patterns/logos such as athletic style clothing. Your family photos are intended to be cherished for a long time, and graphic t shirts etc tend to go out of style so best to stay away from them. Plain shirts are safe, and showcase you as a family rather than distract.
Mama - you are the star of the show! Let's face it, you're the reason we are all here so let's celebrate you! This is your opportunity to look stunning so I highly recommend buying something gorgeous or making use of my client closet. I can also organise hair and makeup for the session as well. Start with your outfit first, and build the family's outfits around yours.
Layers, particularly in the cooler months look gorgeous. They add texture and interest to the photo, and can be put on or taken off for a different look. Adding things like jackets, cardigans etc work well.
Props and accessories are also fantastic. This cute hats, necklaces, belts and scarves. I also have a number of flower crowns, baby headbands, hats and blankets you are welcome to use.
Think about your favourite colours or styles and search family photos with these in mind on Pinterest.
